Flood Risk Assessment

Climate change is having a major impact on the volume and speed of movement of water, with increasingly tough controls being placed upon the management and disposal of surface water from developments with a view to ensuring not just that new development is sufficiently protected against flooding but that the risk to existing development is not increased and where possible is reduced.

Flood Risk Assessment

The need to utilise more marginal sites for development multiplies the potential for disaster, hence the emphasis at the planning stage to accurately assess the risk from all potential sources of flooding and identification of implementable solutions to mitigate site specific risks. River modelling, flood plain analysis and drainage capacity investigations are part of the sophisticated flood scenario systems utilised by MTC to categorise the potential risk and overcome the challenges faced at each project.

Drainage Solutions

Recent changes to Planning Policy and attention to the possible future effects of climate change on the risk of flooding require the development of surface water drainage strategies and the design of sustainable drainage systems (SUDS) on a site to site basis.

MTC provide first class technical expertise on all types of surface water drainage and sustainable drainage design using Micro Drainage and other associated software, developing integrated urban drainage strategies to effectively manage the risk posed on a site specific basis.

The benefits include: Reducing flood risk, minimising diffuse pollution, maintaining or restoring natural flow regimes, reducing demand upon potable water resources and enhancing amenity.

Code for Sustainable Homes

MTC work with many social housing developers that build to the Code standard for the sustainable design and construction of new homes. We provide the full drainage design along with the calculations and reports required for submission to Code Assessors to achieve SUR 1 and SUR 2 and gain the points required to achieve the relevant Code.
